“Transformative Learning: Theory to Practice” by Jack Mezirow (1997)

The foundational work of Transformative Learning Theory. This article is the cornerstone upon which the academic approach of Transformative Learning (TL) was built. It proposes the fundamental ideas of transformative learning, such as identifying underlying assumptions, deconstructing them via critical inquiry, and transforming the paradigms with which learners view and approach the world around them. One of the most widely cited articles in TL, it is the work which all future academics either develop upon or respond to.
